Brief Introduction about the festival: Uttarayan is celebrated across Gujarat, with major centres of kite-flying in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Nadiad, among others.
The International Kite Festival is held in Ahmedabad. Though Uttarayan is originally a special day of the Hindu calendar, it is said that the idea of flying kites to celebrate the date was a concept that arrived with Muslims from Persia, and it has now transcended all religious boundaries. Visitors come from around India to join this celebration.
This year, the week-long merry starts from 8-Jan-17 till 14-Jan-17, at Sabarmati Riverfront Ahmedabad.
So let’s soar high in the sky with our KITES and roar 'KAI PO CHE’!!
